Hello I’m Bec, Sustainable Floristry Network (SFN) florist and Founder of Not Just a Pretty Flower.

I haven't always been a florist

Here's my story...

Firstly, thank you so much for being here and getting to know my business!

I grew up on Awabakal land in Lake Macquarie, NSW, and now live and create in Maroubra on beautiful Gadigal and Bidjigal land. My love of gardens, flowers, and nature began early - picking Double Delight roses and lavender at my grandparents’ property.

I came to floristry through a career change, moving from forensics/financial crime consulting into social enterprise. Completing my Certificate III in Floristry reignited the sense of wonder and appreciation for nature I had growing up.

When I was starting out, I freelanced with other florists and worked in florist shops while building my own creative practice.

In 2025, I officially launched my studio‑based, online floristry business, Not Just a Pretty Flower, with the purpose of inspiring reconnection to nature and I haven’t looked back!

When I’m not creating, you’ll find me out in nature... running through Malabar headland, searching for nudibranchs, practicing French at my local café, or rescuing interesting finds from the roadside.

I love working with creatives, social enterprises, and second‑hand pieces, because character and stories matter.

My friends and family describe me as a bit of an old soul, highly creative and caring. I’m just happy to be here, thinking about and sharing flowers with you.

I believe in the healing power of nature, collaboration over competition, and using business for good. If you’d like to connect about flowers, nature, sustainability, creativity, career change, or collaboration, reach out at
